CRICUT: Creating a Chevron letter using Cricut fonts

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Chevron letters are extremely popular at the moment. And making them in Design Space using Cricut fonts is super easy!

First make sure the Cricut font you have chosen has a shadow. That's what you'll be using to create the outside edge of the letter.

Follow the steps below to create your letter.

Sometimes the sliced portion will be slightly too small and some parts of it won't be welded. In those cases I either use the other sliced piece or I slightly resize the sliced image to make it fit better.

And don't stop with letters. You can use any shape with a shadow in the same way.

And there are plenty of other patterns you can use other than the chevron.

Take a look at the Edge to Edge cartridge. There's lots to choose from there!

FREE: Sideways Box card cutting file

**This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Hi crafters!

Today I'm sharing with you a FREE card base called a Sideways Box Card.

One of my friends Sharon (Skippy's Place) saw this card style on a CTMH blog called Scrappy Matters.

Sharon told me I had to create a cutting file for the Explore so she could make one without having to measure anything! So I did what I was told and here's the result. (Link to the cutting file is at the end of this post.)

The "Just Because" image is from the Paper Lace cartridge. Image number #M46F66. This beautiful image is included in the Cricut Image subscription. This image is not included in the cutting file.

Here's the link to Simone's (scrappymatters) blog post where you'll find instructions on how to make one yourself without a cut file. (The measurements are in metric.)
http://scrappymatters.com/2015/06/fancy-fold-sideways-box-panel-card/

Simone found the original tutorial for this card style on a video by Dawn Griffith. Dawn calls it a Step Panel card. Here's the link to that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ-hMjA2Afw

Even though this is a Sideways Box card.... you can also turn it around and use it upright like I did in this example.

The finished card measures 5.5" x 4.25" and folds flat to fit into an envelope.

And it has room on the back for writing your message.

Image is from Kadoodle Bug Designs - PTC Cutie KaToodles - Seashell Crickets
Image is not included in the cutting file.

Here is the link to the Design Space cutting file. All images used in the file are from the Basic Shapes in Design Space and are therefore free.

Hope you enjoy the new file! Please let me know if you have any problems cutting it.

Other products used:
Cricut© Cardstock, White - I used the white cardstock for the Print then Cut on the Cuutie KaTootles image. I used the rear feed tray on my printer (Epson WF-7620). It cut beautifully on my Cricut Explore Air using the cardstock setting!  I did trim off the eyelashes though as they were so thin they shredded slightly.

Patterned paper was from my stash.  One is from a 6x6 bundle called Delightful from Authentique Paper. The other one is from another 6x6 bundle and is still buried under the rubble on my desk!

Creating the missing treble clef in the Hannah Montana Music font

The treble clef is missing from the alphabet when using Cricut Design Space. Here’s how you can make one.

Using Insert Images, select a treble clef from the Hannah Montana cartridge

Click on it so it’s selected in the Layers panel then click the shadow layer to show it.

Click back on the treble clef to select it then click Ungroup at the bottom of the Layers Panel

Select the shadow layer then click Delete

Use Add Text to add a = from your keyboard.
Change it to Hannah Montana Music font

Select the = and click Ungroup from the Layers panel

Click Contour from the Layers panel then click on the two lines of the = to hide them

Place the treble clef over the music bars and resize to fit inside the bars

Select both and click Weld from the Layers panel. And you’re done!
