Tutorial for using Samantha font in Design Space

If you've recently purchased Samantha Font from Creative Fabrica you might be looking for info on how to use it.

I've put together a PDF that might help. You'll learn how to install the font, how to download and install NexusFont (the font view you'll use to access the special characters in the font) and how to get those characters into Design Space.

You can download the PDF from here: Using Samantha font in Design Space

Please note... the tutorial was written for Windows users. Mac users don't use NexusFont to use the special characters. You will find info on how to do that here (by Laura Worthington the creator of Samantha font): Accessing the alternates on a Mac

Don't miss out on getting the Samantha font bargain

This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking through my links.

People are going mad over the beautiful Samantha font by Laura Worthington. And rightly so! If you like flourishes you'll love this font!

I swore I'd never purchase a font. There's so many free ones out there right? Well, this one changed my mind.

Samantha Upright is now available at Creative Fabrica! You can purchase it for right now for $9.00 during Creative Fabrica's Black Friday launch. (Yes, you read that right - nine dollars!!)

Your purchase will include a free month of All Access subscription!!  That's access to over 75,000 fonts, nearly 4 million graphic assets and 50,000+ cut files. And they all include a commercial use license.

The subscription can be cancelled if you no longer wish to continue it, but if you do want to renew it, it will renew at $19/month instead of $29/month.  You can view the deal here: https://www.creativefabrica.com/product/samantha-script/ref/173/

If you already have the Fonts or All Access subscriptions Samantha Font is included and is available for you to download now.

You'll also get these ready made words!

And take a look at these flourishes!

And all of the upper case letters have multiple versions all with different degrees of swashiness! This is just a tiny sample!

I'm including some really useful links from Laura Worthington to information on how to use these fonts - in particular the alternate characters/words/flourishes (or swashes as Laura calls them). Those characters require a few more steps to insert into Design Space.

Using the alternate characters in Windows using the Windows Character Map: http://lauraworthingtontype.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Windows_accessing-alternates.pdf

Using the alternate characters in Mac OS 10.6 - 10.8: http://lauraworthingtontype.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Mac-OS-10.6-10.8_accessing-alternates1.pdf

Nexus font is a font viewer and manager that you can use instead of the Windows Character map. (It's much easier to see the characters in this program.)

What else do you need to know?

When you unzip the font you will see that there are two versions of each style. An OTT and a TTF. Generally you'll only need to install the TTF version. Laura has a great explanation of the differences here: http://lauraworthingtontype.com/2014/12/opentype-features/#more-3021

Here's the link to Laura's FAQ page. That's where I found all the above info!
